3. No Legal Advice Through This Website
The content of this Site is provided for general information purposes only. It does not constitute legal advice, and no solicitor-client relationship is formed by your use of the Site, by submitting an enquiry form, or by receiving a response to such an enquiry.
A solicitor-client relationship is only formed when a written engagement letter has been issued by us and accepted by you, and any required retainer fee has been received.
If you require legal advice, you should consult a qualified legal practitioner. The information on this Site may not reflect the most recent developments in the law and should not be relied upon as legal authority.
4. Enquiries and Conflict Checks
Submitting an enquiry through our contact form does not create a solicitor-client relationship or impose any obligation on us to act for you. Before accepting any new engagement, we conduct a conflict of interest check. If a conflict is identified, we will inform you and will not proceed with the engagement.
We may decline to act for any prospective client without being required to give reasons, subject to our professional obligations.
5. Terms of Engagement for Legal Services
5.1 Engagement Letter
When we agree to act for a client, we will issue a written engagement letter setting out the scope of the engagement, our fees, disbursement estimates, and the terms on which we act. No work will commence until the engagement letter has been signed and any required payment received.
5.2 Fees and Disbursements
Our fees are set out in the engagement letter. The fees published on this website represent starting figures for the described engagement types and may vary depending on the complexity and circumstances of your matter. Disbursements (including court filing fees, process server fees, and other out-of-pocket expenses) are payable in addition to professional fees unless expressly stated otherwise.
5.3 Scope of Work
We act only within the scope described in the engagement letter. If the matter expands beyond that scope, we will notify you and agree updated terms in writing before proceeding.
5.4 Client Instructions
We act on your instructions. We will advise you on the appropriate course of action at each stage, but decisions regarding settlement, litigation strategy, and the conduct of proceedings rest with you as the client, after taking our advice.
5.5 Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement by written notice. We reserve the right to terminate an engagement where you have not provided instructions, have not paid amounts due, or where continuing to act would breach our professional obligations. Where we terminate, we will take reasonable steps to protect your position and to give you sufficient time to obtain alternative representation.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on this Site, including text, layout, design, and graphics, is the property of Tegas Advocates or its licensors and is protected by applicable copyright law. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the Site without our prior written consent.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Malaysian law, Tegas Advocates excludes all liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of or reliance on the Site or its content, including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for negligence in the course of providing legal services where such liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. These are provided for your convenience only. We do not endorse or take responsibility for the content of any third-party site, and accessing such sites is at your own risk.

10. Governing Law
